Campus is “buzzin” with the recent announcement that Palmetto Productions is bringing American hip-hop artist Shwayze to campus April 26.
The show, separate from Spring Ball this year, will be held under the GO Pavilion. Tickets are free to students, and the show is a closed concert, making it exclusive to Eckerd students. Full beverage service will be provided.
“I feel like Shwayze really fits the Eckerd vibe and it’s going to be a lot of fun,” says Director of Concerts Mike Geibel, who is also The Current’s sports editor.
Shwayze, or Aaron Smith, 27, was born in Malibu, Calif. His lyrics follow a similar vibe inherited from his hometown. He raps about the summer beach lifestyle, about being in love and about the good times. With singles like “Corona and Lime” and “Livin’ it up” Shwayze’s style parallels Eckerd’s.
